For lovers of Classics

The King of Yesterday, Cabernet, might not be the height of fashion at the moment, but there are plenty good reasons why it has spread around the globe. One would be that it's pretty awesome when you get it right, and not talking lofty collectables here, but rather something that can be extremely satisfying with a leg of lamb. Or a perfect pairing for grilled eggplant, loaded with umami. Pairing it with a bit of Merlot, often perfect.

In Orange, we head for the lower reaches for the warmth that is needed to ripen Cabernet Sauvignon in highland areas. The Cooks Lot dishes up aromatic cassis and mulberries, and just the right, small, amounts of herbaceous. There's some oak there too, but sitting quietly in the back seat.

As with any red wine, avoid serving this too warm in order to show it at its best – roughly 18 degrees would be great!
