It’s a pleasure to pour this wine into a big glass: all dark and velvety, with a promise of something really nice. Aromatic dark cherries, raspberries and spice with notes of mushrooms and bushland on the nose. The complex palate is a treat with dark berries, plum and oak spice, with things kept fresh by a reasonably firm structure, and completed with silky tannins, a lick of umami, and a lovely, opulent finish.

A hedonistic Pinot Noir.

The organically grown fruit (20+ year old vines of MV6 & D5V12 clones) was harvested by hand by Joe, Cindy and their family. Current vintage 2016 was very good for the vineyard.

Winemaking was overseen by Ray Nadeson at his Lethbridge winery. The grapes were de-stemmed and allowed fermentation with indigenous yeasts in barrels. The wine was afterwards pressed into French oak barrels (35% new, 65% second use, all from Tonnellerie Bossuet) and matured for 12 months. After a light fining with bentonite (a natural, clay based fining agent), the wine was bottled unfiltered, and finished with a modest amount of sulphur (70 ppm), just to keep it in good shape under transport and storage.

This wine is vegan friendly.
